This is what I love about blogging...I learn about things I'd never heard of before, like Lohri. Any excuse for a bonfire seems like a good idea to me.
Happy Lohri dear Radhika! The Photographs are lovely, I could feel the warmth sitting here, watching them.
Oh I love bonfires! You inspired me to call our fire chief to get a permit to burn! It is great to learn about this festival! Sounds wonderful and your music puts one right into the mood. Great fire photos!!
You are right Jodi... any occasion for a Bonfire during winters sounds terrific to me too :) This festival marks the end of winters n begining of spring for us here in India n is usu celebrated with much fervour in North India!
Hey Green Thumb, Thx for the kind words. Nothing like sitting idle infront of the fire soaking in the warmth and having some freshly roasted potatoes n sweet potatoes, peanuts, popcorn n all...Btw do you celebrate Lohri as well????
Hi Carol, I too love bonfires! Whoa! So have you taken the permit from the chief as yet or not? Glad you liked the blog about Lohri Bonfire. Its a typically Punjabi (North Indian) festival, and heralds the beginning of the new season for us.
Hi Radhika,
I love your revolving world on your page as well as the banner in front. I am tempted to copy the banner, though not just yet. This is my first time to hear the LOHRI festival, though of course i have a few Indian friends too. Much blessings for you in this year. God bless.
Hi Andrea,
Thx for the Lohri wishes... BTW I too was lured by the revolving globe widget the moment I saw it on a frds pg...Go get it.... if you like it :) The banner is just for a dash of freshness and add on words / colours ....Fun to use frm time to time.
Cheers!
Radhika
Hi, Radhika, this is the first time I hear about LOHRI Festival. It is quite similar to the Dong Zhi which is the winter solstice festival celebrated on Dec 22 this year. Its been ages since I last attended a bonfire. It is especially enjoyable when the night is cold.
